Our Mission, Community

Who are Lyvly's Community Ambassadors?

July 10, 2019 - Read time 7 mins

Our community ambassadors are the local leaders in our neighbourhoods across London. At Lyvly, we believe that community can only be formed through:

  • Local connections with members
  • Having members around you on a daily or weekly basis - this means not having homes isolated on their own
  • Feeling comfortable and knowledgeable about where you live

Lyvly empowers our community ambassadors to connect our members locally, hold relevant and interesting micro-events and are a source of knowledge for their local area - so everyone will get to know the best places to eat, drink and work out.

We want connections for our members to go beyond their postcode, but know that the most important bonds are formed at home. It might be some casual drinks to welcome you to the neighbourhood, joining a local sports team or a big dinner with your building. These local moments are the ones that enhance our members experiences and can change the way they connect with living in a city.

MEET THE AMBASSADORS

Ricardo Twumasi

Ricardo
Vauxhall

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

Gym or cycling sessions to get the Vauxhall crew's blood pumping. I'd also lead some people for walks along the Thames (we're so close in Vauxhall it would be stupid not to!) and dinner parties for new and established members.

What do you enjoy about being a part of  Lyvly:

I really enjoy being part of the community and I recently attended a focus group where I had a great time and met some new Lyvly members who I'm really looking forward to seeing more of.

About me:

My main interests are sport, music and sci-fi. I was a professional athlete for several years, having represented Great Britain in triple jump. After a knee injury I’ve taken up cycling, which I now do 5 days a week. I also play the acoustic guitar in a band and love to record and play music.

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

A social gathering of sorts. Not necessarily drinks but a get together with perhaps a different theme every week.

What do you enjoy about being a part of  Lyvly:

I believe there's always room for more fun!

About me:

I'm insanely spontaneous and unpredictable at times. I think it's a great asset. I decided two days before 2019 to have NYE in Buenos Aires so booked my ticket on the 29th on a whim and went, by myself. I then spent two and a half months travelling around South America.

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

Welcoming people to the area with coffee mornings or afternoons is always a chilled way to meet new members. Being part of the foodie group means I'd love to host brunch and dinner clubs experiencing the local area or casual pub outings, maybe even a pub quiz.

What do you enjoy about being a part of  Lyvly:

I want to extend my social circle and have more opportunity to experience new places with someone else - there’s so much to explore, in London and Brixton, that I haven’t yet had the chance to do because I’d like to do it with someone or as a group!

About me:

I’m always keen to experience new things and have my eyes opened to a different point of view, whether that’s with food and books to having conversations about politics and celebrities. But I also enjoy my own company, being snuggled up with a book, listening to music or binge watching tv shows!

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

A range of different things to welcome people to the area, It's always good to mix things up.

What do you enjoy about being a part of  Lyvly:

The vibe and feeling of being in an active community.

About me:

My name means the Universe.

I am spontaneous, always up for 'exploring', organised, enjoy theatre and classical/jazz music, and I like to dance. I also like to learn and teach how to cook different dishes, play board games, I am as happy going on an adventure as I am having a quiet chit-chat.

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

I'd like to start a regular boardgames night or hold a drinks reception every month in the amazing space we have in our apartment building.

What do you enjoy about being a part of  Lyvly:

A desire to have a positive impact on something I think is worth doing well.

About me:

I would describe myself as: tall, smart, ambitious, determined, friendly, fun, sociable, polite, emphatic and very easy going.

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

Inter-house competitions, nothing like a bit of rivalry to bring us closer together!

What do you enjoy about being a part of  Lyvly:

The Community.

About me:

I enjoy going to the gym most mornings of the week, plus I love to play netball. In the evenings I will cook up something simple and relax. If other people are having a wine, I will enjoy a glass too but I don't like to have a glass by myself.

I love to travel (obviously) so I'm a big fan of weekend trips to other countries. I still cant believe you can be overseas in just an hour!

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

To start a happy hour.

What do you enjoy about being a part of  Lyvly:

Lyvly is building a great  community, and I want to be involved in driving that engagement in my area.

About me:

I am passionate about traveling, art, music and food. I am not me without my friends. And I never say "no" to a good wine. My favourite fact about myself is that I have visited 27 countries, lived in 4 and I have a personality that is a mix of everything.

Mike Stead

Clapham

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

Pub quiz, Sundowners when available, chilled Sunday afternoon drinks - lots of drinks basically.

What do you enjoy about being a part of  Lyvly:

I love to meet more people local to Clapham and being able to expand my Clapham network.

About me:

I've been described as a nicer version of Barney, from How I Met Your Mother, Neal Caffrey from White Collar, Harvey from Suits, and Don Draper from Mad Men. I guess this means I have a lot of suits. I'm a lover of whisky and wine, my whisky collection is forever expanding, pretty much the same as my suit collection, and I have more pairs of shoes than I care to admit. I’m constantly on the lookout for good cocktails and new food places to try.

Parris
Balham

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

I'd love to host events to introduce people to the area, there's three big parks around, great pubs and restaurants that fly under the radar to people who don't know Balham - all great venues to meet and connect with members in our neighbourhood. I love to cook, so hosting BBQs in the summer is always on the cards.

What do you enjoy about being a part of  Lyvly:

I love to see the community grow and as Lyvly gets bigger the diversity of the members does too. It's so good to meet different people with different interests that without Lyvly I may never have been able to connect with. I love having the opportunity to share experiences with them all.

About me:

I am passionate about equality of opportunity, keeping fit mentally and physically, and making a difference in friends' lives.

I play 11-a-side every Saturday from September through to May, and have done for the same side for 19 seasons now. Less regularly I’ll play a bit of netball, tag and ultimate frisbee, which helps top up the cardio.

Oliver Jones buddah square

Oliver
Wembley

What sort of events will you host in your neighbourhood:

As we have access to a couple of beautiful rooftops, which can accommodate around 60 people each, I would love to host anything from a BBQ to evening drinks with a DJ. Either that or we could head to an event at Wembley Stadium or Boxpark, which always seem to have something going on we could take advantage of.

What do you enjoy about being a part of Lyvly:

Every member in Lyvly seems motivated to band together and have a great time, which I think eliminates the risk of being isolated! I’m also looking forward to developing some long-term relationships and networking with likeminded people.

About me:

I love anything to do with history. My recent interest is reading about Genghis Khan and his empire. I love board games, especially a good game of chess and have recently also started playing Go, an ancient Chinese game.
